"The hallmark of the Bannockburn Chardonnay has always been its purity and that continues to be the driving force in the 2025. A focussed nose of citrus blossom, mineral and a hint of fresh peach invites you in. Then a rush of pure refreshment; citrus, white peach, greengage, but all so fresh, just on the cusp of ripening. The ethereal florals persist with the flavours right into the clean linear finish, where a gentle wave of salinity closes the show. A wine completely empty of ego, happy to please with its deliciousness."

"Tasted over two days this wine is excellent, showcasing the purity of fruit, vineyard and winemaking style. A pristine and highly polished style with high energy and detail with white fleshed fruits and citrus at the core, a finesse from the use of barrel, tension and poise from lees and acidity. Flavours of green melon and white peach, apple and layers of earth spice, stone and blossoms. A fine raw cashew nut idea from the use of oak adds complexity. Taut, youthful and needing cellar time. Best drinking from 2027 through 2033."

"Subtle notes of vanilla rice pudding and flint give way to floral and sweet herb aromas. The palate, initially tight and firm, slowly opens up to reprise the bouquet along with layers of white fruit, chalk and fine-boned pithy phenolics which all lie within a sleek, polished structure. Elegant, detailed and compact, with mid-weight flavours tucked neatly into a delicately crisp package. It will develop nicely in the mid to long term."

"The 2023 Bannockburn Chardonnay is lean and tremendously tightly coiled at this stage, with notes of crushed and salted nuts, white peach, lemon, green apple and lemongrass. In the mouth, the acidity is a real factor in the drinking experience: it defines the finish and contributes to the overall leanness of the wine. It's crunchier than expected, but at 14% alcohol, it's certainly not underripe. Interesting angles, all of them."
