Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Sourced from two elevated Central Otago sites. One in Bendigo, grown on weathered schist soils at 350m altitude. The other from the famed Packspur Vineyard in Lowburn, where sand loams interspersed with quartz gravels sit at 400m. Together, they bring both power and precision.
Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed to French barriques (15% new). Wild fermented, with 85% malolactic fermentation completed. Bottled July 2025.
The nose shows white nectarine and grapefruit layered with almond milk. Followed by Finely structured, citrus and stone fruit. Hints of almond, nougat and cool schist. Lees contact has brought richness, backed up with subtle oak spice. A taut minerality keeps the wine precise."
91/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, July 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Has some hazy, sweet oaky spice as a feature, green mango, just-ripe pineapple, green apple and a touch of grapefruity freshness. A classically styled chardonnay, flavour, weight, a bit of grip, that oak riding through it all. Pleasing stuff, nails the brief."
Reviews for the 2023 vintage below…
94+/100 Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com, Wine Advocate, June 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"The 2023 Chardonnay is so tightly coiled compared to the 2019 tasted beside it. It is possessed of searing intensity and packs of white flowers and spice that spiral across the palate. Having had the benefit (and privilege) of tasting the 2019 beside this, I can categorically state that this wine opens and evolves as it ages, and the clarity of fruit here will open and become more complex with time. This is all potential right now, coiled potential. I like the 2023 vintage across the region, and so I have high hopes for this."
