"Black doris plum, star anise and spice combine with classical Central Otago dark fruits. The wine shows a lovely savoury earthy edge which adds to the overall complexity of the offering. The wine is framed beautifully by a mineral edged acidity and complemented with fine oak and fruit tannin. Great concentration with a long lingering finish."

"A classic and enticing bouquet of dark cherry and baking spices, layers of spicy plum and baking spice, rose and flinty soil suggestions. As the wine opens out the complexity builds with an expansion of fruit and mineral scents framed by oak. A dry wine touches the palate framed by textures of tannin and acidity then core fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet. A lovely example, well made and lengthy with best drinking from 2027 through 2037."

Set against the backdrop of the majestic Pisa mountain range, Amisfield is one of Central Otago's largest single estate vineyards. Inspired by childhood holidays in Central Otago, founder John Darby sought to master this breathtaking yet challenging high country, believing it ideal for cool-climate viticulture. After an exhaustive search, he discovered Amisfield Farm, a former merino sheep station, and planted the first vines in 1999. The vineyard thrives in a continental climate with cold winters, hot summers, and low rainfall.

In 2021, Amisfield completed a five-year transition to organic viticulture and was named Organic Vineyard of the Year in 2020 and 2022. Their philosophy is to nurture nature at every step, resulting in wines of exceptional purity, intensity, and vibrancy.

Designed by architect Charlie Nott in 2006, Amisfield's modern winery features a 600-tonne production capacity. Here, winemakers employ a hands-off approach, allowing nature to shape the wines.

Amisfield's organic vineyard produces wines with distinctive regional characteristics. Visitors to the Cellar Door can indulge in tastings of Pinot Noir vintages and a range of white wines, guided by passionate staff eager to showcase the unique flavours of Central Otago.
