This classy Cental Otago Pinot Noir Rose is a great example of how a couple years of bottle age can enhance the drinking experience of Rose. The time in bottle helps to soften the acidity and harmonise the fruit flavours.

Te Kano are a relatively new player on the Central Otago wine scene, but have already made some significant investment into the region – they are really starting to produce some impressive wines!

They have a strong passion for conservation (as well as making delicious wines) and are undergoing some extensive regenerative projects around their Estate vineyards based in Bannockburn, Northburn and Waitaki. Working with organic practices (not yet certified) the care and attention here is obvious and they are definitely a winery to keep an eye on going forward.

"Pale salmon in colour, this dry Rosé shows aromas of pink grapefruit, watermelon and peach. An initial burst of fresh watermelon and raspberry leads into a crunchy medley of pink grapefruit, red apple and passionfruit. A tightly poised, powerful and zesty rose, finishing fresh, dry and finely textured."

"The delicious 2022 vintage was made from Pinot Noir, estate-grown and hand-picked at Northburn, in the Cromwell Basin. Bright pink, it is mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with fresh acidity, deep watermelon, strawberry and spice flavours, and a dry (3.7 grams/litre of residual sugar), very harmonious, lingering finish. "Bright, polished, aromatic and very youthful with a bouquet of fresh cherry flesh and strawberry, some cranberry and floral highlights. Just dry on the palate with a satin texture, fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet with intensity and freshness, a perfect line of acidity delivers freshness and robustness. Fruit flavours tend to strawberry then red apple and cherry, there’s a light mineral quality with persistent flavours. A lovely example with best drinking from day of purchase through end of summer 2026."

"Bright, even, pale salmon. The nose is softly full and rich, with roses, maraschino cherry and red berry aromas. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, aromas of maraschino cherry entwined with raspberry, roses and a hint of pepper. The fruit shows an extended depth lingers with spice and silky phenolics. Mouth-watering acidity lends a moreish, poised finish. This refreshing Rosé is well-balanced with elegant fruit, fresh acidity and length. Serve as an aperitif or match with cured salmon over the next 3 years. Fruit from the Northburn vineyard, handpicked, fermented cool in stainless steel to 13% alc, 3.7 g/lRS. Aged on light lees."
