"The fruit is issued from Rippon’s mature vines, whose root hairs have invaded the schist rock below. Lurking towards the end of the first mouthful is substantial phenolic power and it soon starts to take charge of the wine… and give it its sense of place."

"A thoughtful, interesting wine that changes a lot in the glass at this youthful stage – decanting is helpful. Delicate wild thyme honey, sweet limes and Granny Smith apples. Creamy texture from lees ageing. Off-dry, with fine, mineral acidity and finely judged phenolics, this wine is all about texture and savoury layers. Excellent concentration and length, will age gracefully. From old vines dry grown on their own roots.'
