Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"The farm voice of a distinct parcel of land: Rippon. On the western board of Roy’s Bay, Lake Wānaka, Rippon’s north-facing escarpment forms the meeting point of terminal moraines and coarse gravels, all based in schist, on which some of the region’s earliest vines were planted. Rippon is a wine issued from all of the fully developed Pinot Noir vines growing in this land."

95/100 Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com, Wine Advocate, June 2026 (2023 Vintage)
"The 2023 Rippon Mature Vine Pinot Noir leads with cranberry and cherry, paprika, blood plum and orange. In the mouth, the wine is chalky and lean, persistent and long through the finish. I do love the texture and shape of these Rippon Pinots. The way they behave on the palate tends to convince me further, over the course of drinking, of just how delicious they are. There are notes of rose petals, crushed rocks, black tea and coastal sage. This is super, superb. It is creamy in its way. It is ripe, but the fruit is evidently in excellent condition. It was handpicked from biodynamically farmed vines, wild fermented and cellared in barrel for two winters prior to bottling, unfined and unfiltered."

18/20 Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com, January 2026 (2023 Vintage)
"More intense, bluer crimson than most of its peers. Distinctive nose too. Serious ‘burgundian’ nose with a hint of violets and a savoury, dry finish. No fruit bomb this. A complex wine with a beginning, middle and (very convincingly persistent) end. Real lift. Lake Wanaka vines grown biodynamically by Nick Mills for years. Aged over two winters and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Further cellaring and decanting recommended."

97/100 & Top 100 New Zealand Wines of 2025, JamesSuckling.com (2023 Vintage)
"Wonderfully ripe strawberries and flowers with hints of balsamic and cloves as well as smoke, lead pencil and oyster shells. It’s medium-bodied with firm, lightly chewy tannins that are velvety yet crunchy at the same time. Tight at the end. Needs three or four years to soften. From biodynamically grown grapes."
