Very young and closed currently, it needs more time to unfold before it reveals its innate, layered complexity, but there is a warmth to the fruit and a brimming generosity hidden within which promises delicious drinking in the years to come."

"What can I say, but Congratulations to the whole wine growing and wine making team at QR HQ. Another example of NZ sparkling wine at its best from one of the very few producers in Aotearoa who persistently and consistently deliver quality and deliciousness in a glass of sparkling wines. This Methode Traditionnelle has immediate impact and drive from the autolysis with a fresh nut and fine lees complexity closely followed by scents of baked apple and peach, grapefruit and fresh oatmeal. Dry, taut, crisp, saline, fruity and mouthwatering. A fine small bubble mousse with a stream of finesse and style. Lengthy and ready to drink from 2026 through 2033+."

Quartz Reef Wines, located in Central Otago’s Bendigo sub-region, is renowned for crafting exceptional wines that truly express their sense of place. Specialising in Méthode Traditionnelle, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, alongside Pinot Gris and Grüner Veltliner, all wines are certified NZ Biogro organic and Demeter biodynamic, ensuring a holistic and sustainable approach to winemaking.

The unique Bendigo Estate Vineyard spans 15 hectares of north-facing slopes, where arid clay, fine gravel, and quartz soils imbue the grapes with a distinctive character. Adjacent to this is the Loop Rd vineyard, home to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines used for Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wines, as well as Pinot Gris for still wines.

Quartz Reef’s biodynamic practices go beyond organic farming, nurturing the vineyard as a living ecosystem.
