When Mount Brown bottles a wine under their Grand Reserve label, you know it's going to be something special. The range is all about "celebrating our very vest best and rarest wines", and in this case it's a very limited release of a sensationally good Sauvignon Blanc!
What’s even more remarkable is that we can offer it at a price point lower than many commercial Marlborough offerings. Considering that it is entirely estate grown and bottled, this represents exceptional value.
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Estate grown and bottled, this is a stunning example of just how good Sauvignon Blanc can really be. Forget overly acidic and grassy Sauvignon, think ripe fruit, full bodied with tropical aromas, yet still with a delicious and refreshing crisp finish.
The grapes are grown on well drained gravel soils. All vines are grafted onto 3309 rootstock which limits crop and enhances flavour intensity. The grapes are grown just metres from the winery, so the first time they leave the estate is in a bottle. Made from free run juice that underwent a cool fermentation, this is a very special Sauvignon Blanc."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, January 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"It's powerfully expressed on the nose, showing apricot, pineapple, grapefruit, and lime zest aromas. The palate displays excellent weight and fruit intensity, splendidly supported by saline texture and vibrant acidity, finishing impressively long and engaging. At its best: now to 2029."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, January 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Very expressive bouquet of white fleshed fruits and fruit spices, layers of passionfruit and red apple, lemon thyme and grapefruit, nettles and lees complexities. An echo of sage and basil enrich the bouquet. Delicious and very expressive on the palate as well with a weighty first touch then satin to follow, flavours of exotic fruit and citrus, still some herb echoes and leesy spice qualities. A backbone of acidity ensures freshness, length and palate memory. Great drinking from day of purchase through 2027+."
