Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Moonlight Race is a combination of Pinot Noir sourced from our trio of estate vineyards: Burn Cottage Vineyard in Lowburn, and the Sauvage and Sappa Vineyards in Bannockburn. Each vineyard contributes unique characteristics to the blend, resulting in a vibrant expression of Central Otago Pinot Noir.
Layers of aroma with dark cherry, florals, rich herbals, cocoa and earth notes. There is a lovely vibrancy to the wine, underpinned with density and mineral, savoury undertones. Supple and tex"

"Bright and lifted aromas of strawberries, wild raspberries, citrus peel and cherries on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy tannins giving notes of blackberries, mocha, lead pencil and wet bark. Refined and pure with 5% whole-cluster. Drink or hold."

"A complete wine with a fragrant and detailed bouquet of red berries and mineral earth combinations, scents of strawberry and baking spices, a soft blackcurrant and red cherry, and gentle woodsmoke and lees ideas, some bracken and silty soils with a floral wild rose idea. Dry and textured on the palate with an equally detailed win on the plate, fine tannins and acidity, dried herb and soil flavours then red berry fruits that mirror the bouquet. Well made with a decent length and finish. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2032+."

"The 2023 Moonlight Race Pinot Noir is stalky, spicy and bright, with note of Campari/blood orange that mingle alongside dark chocolate, coffee, blood plum and star anise. If anything, this feels slightly lean rather than plush, but it works well within the scope of the wine. In the mouth, the tannins and acidity work together as one, making this wine feel integrated, serious, and fun, all at once. Recommended. It is very fine."
