Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2025
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"The Montepulciano enjoyed this perfect hang time on the vines, resulting in the fruit being hand-picked in perfect condition on April 16th. Gentle hand plunging and pump overs aided the extraction of al the colour and flavours in the berries. After spending one month on skins, the wine was run off into fine French oak, of which 25% was new, where it spent just over 12 months.
Rich ripe boysenberry, cherry stone, tar, and spice aromas saturate the nose. The palate is awash with ripe red fruits and punchy velvety tannins. This Montepulciano is not for the faint-hearted but wi l excite anyone who’s into big reds. This wine has a long life ahead of it and wi l certainly be worth celaring into the coming decades."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Pristine and inviting with elegant complexity, the wine shows Black Doris plum, blueberry, violet, clove, and toasted nut aromas. It's wonderfully weighted and finely flowing in the mouth, offering silky texture and finely pitched tannins. Splendidly structured and balanced with plenty of delectable flavours. At its best: now to 2032."
