"Dark ruby-red colour, a little lighter edged. The nose is elegant in expression but blossoms in volume to show aromas of ripe dark-red berry fruits and plums intermingling with subtle nuances of savoury herbs, lifted violet florals, and spicy oak. Mineral detail emerges to add interest with aeration. Medium-bodied, fruit flavours of ripe dark red berry and plums show with good mouthfeel and presence. The fruit in entwined with layers of dark and savoury herbs, liquorice and spices and sweet oak, providing complexing detail. The palate possesses good underlying power and drive, along with fine-grained tannin structure and grip. Balanced acidity adds energy, and the palate leads to a full finish of red fruits, florals and oak spices. This is a fulsome, rich and sweet Pinot Noir with plenty of presence and complexing detail, and spicy oak notes. Match with lamb, beef and venison dishes over the next 6+ years. Hand-picked fruit, 70% Abel clone with clones 13 and 5, 92% from the ‘McLeod’ and 8% from the ‘Home’ vineyards, fermented with 10% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 25% new French oak barriques."
