Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"Award winning winemaker David Clouston has created the utterly seductive Havana Pinot Noir. Reflective of a City with infectious energy this Marlborough wine serves up a core of spicy black cherry & sweet dark chocolate. Served with a hit of well integrated oak, smooth & velvety tannins create earthy authenticity. With its long & alluring finish this wine should be wrapped in tobacco leaf. Viva la SOHO Revolución.

Lifted red cherries with earthy, forest floor complexity & lots of intensity on the nose. The palate is full & rich with an excellent tannin structure which supports a lovely fruit core of ripe red fruits."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"A beautifully composed pinot, the instantly appealing bouquet shows red/black cherry, floral, thyme and cedar characters with a hint of earthy mushroom complexity. The palate is concentrated and silky, and delivers elegant fruit intensity as well as subtle savoury undertones. Wonderfully balanced and immensely appealing. At its best: now to 2020."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 Raymond Chan, June 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"Dark ruby-red colour with light garnet hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is full and softly voluminous with deep and well-packed aromas of ripe black cherry and dark red berry fruit, unfolding notes of ripe plums and nuances of liquorice. The aromatics are harmoniously entwined revealing a core of violet florals and spices. Medium-full bodied, rich and plush flavours of ripe dark plums and dark-red berry fruits fill the mouth, unfolding layers of savoury dark herbs, nutty oak, liquorice and spices. The mouthfeel is very smooth wit fine-grained tannin extraction providing refined structure and texture. Integrated acidity adds to the seamlessness. The fruit richness and succulence carries to a long, sustained finish with spice and liquorice nuances. This is a rich and plush, dark plum-fruited Pinot Noir with a refined and smooth structure and nuances of spice and liquorice. Match with wild duck and pork, and with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 5 years. Hand-picked fruit from the company’s ‘Yarrum’ vineyard in the Southern Valleys, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 25% new French oak casks."
5 Stars Yvonne Lorkin, June 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"This wine won the trophy for Best New Zealand Pinot Noir at the International Wine Challenge in London last week. How appropriate that a pinot named after one of the sexiest capital cities in the world, also has a distinct lift of tobacco leaf and cigar box on the nose and palate. Combine this wine nuances of baked cherry, black olive powder and the lushness of forest floor leaf litter and you’ve got an extremely complex, spice-driven, earthy pinot that’s the equivalent of an exotic holiday in a bottle."
4 1/2 Stars Michael Cooper (2015 Vintage)
"The 2015 vintage is a single-vineyard red, hand-harvested in the Southern Valleys and matured in French oak barrels (25 per cent new). An elegant, age-worthy wine, it is full-coloured, mouthfilling and generous, with ripe sweet-fruit characters. Tightly structured, it is finely balanced, with rich, youthful plum/spice flavours, a hint of dried herbs, and good complexity. Best drinking 2018+."
IWC 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Delicate and leafy with notes of spiced berries and raspberry confit. On the palate, the wine has incredible freshness and excellent structure showing balance and a juicy finish with oodles of tart cranberry fruit."
