Yalumba have a fine reputation for delivering wines of exceptional value and their Y Series Shiraz Viognier reinforces that even further. 97% Shiraz but there is 3% of the white grape Viognier in the blend to add colour, depth and fragrance. Being smooth, delicious and very cheap are only three of the many boxes that this wine ticks. A perfect, easy to enjoy red.

Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
“The Y Series is a collection of iconic classics and exciting new varietals. Each wine is authentically crafted with fruit from South Australia’s most celebrated wine regions. At Yalumba, we believe that one good wine leads to another. The Y Series was created with that belief in mind. We look forward to sharing our love of wine with you as you explore the Y Series.

Deep crimson in colour. A luscious and exotic mix of rose, ripe red cherries and boysenberry with hints of white pepper and violets. The full-bodied palate is framed by flavours of rosewater and chocolate with boysenberry and cherry. Plush, velvety tannins provide the perfect complement to the sweet fruit and lingering finish, showing the wonderful synergy between Shiraz and Viognier.”

90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2025 (2022 Vintage)
“A bright, fruity and lively bouquet with scents of raspberries and plums, black currant and violets. Gently firm as the wine touches the palate, fine tannins and medium+ acid line frame flavours that reflect the bouquet offering a balanced and well made wine ready to drink. Ideal drinking window from day of purchase through 2029.”

93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, January 2025 (2022 Vintage)
“It’s beautifully ripe and fragrant on the nose, showing Black Doris plum, blueberry, rich floral, subtle spice, and hazelnut aromas. The palate is equally appealing with excellent weight and plump mouthfeel, splendidly supported by silky texture and fine tannins, making it flavoursome and highly enjoyable”

Yalumba, Australia's oldest family-owned winery, was founded in 1849 by Samuel Smith in Angaston, South Australia. The name "Yalumba" is believed to be a local Peramangk word meaning "all the country around," and the company acknowledges the Peramangk people as the traditional owners of the land. The winery has been a significant part of Australian wine history, known for its iconic blends like Cabernet and Shiraz, and acclaimed wines such as The Signature and The Caley.

Yalumba is unique for operating the Southern Hemisphere's only fully operational cooperage and a leading global vine innovation nursery. With a strong commitment to sustainability and a minimal-intervention winemaking philosophy, Yalumba sources grapes from renowned Australian regions.
