If you were to ask us what our go to red wine for everyday drinking at a great price is, this Yalumba Grenache would be in the conversation every single time. Made from a collection of gnarled, old bush vines planted between 1929 – 1974 (That's some nearly 100 years old!), this is a beautiful modern expression of Barossa Grenache.
A charmingly juicy and joyous wine packed full of raspberry, strawberry, and blueberry flavours with a subtle thread of spice, finishing silky and savoury. A great match with pizza, pasta and steak, this is unbelievable value at just $19.99.
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"With more than 170 years of unbroken independence, Yalumba continues to make wine at its founder’s home estate under the direction of the same family today. Samuel’s Collection honours Yalumba’s founder Samuel Smith, his spirit of independence and conviction to invest in the land and make great wine.
Made from a collection of gnarled old bush vines planted between 1929 – 1974. These vineyards produce small quantities of fruit with a high concentration of flavours. A range of terroir can be seen across the different vineyards, from sandy soils to sandy loam to red-brown earth over red clay. Each parcel of fruit has individuality, creating intriguing complexity.
Deep in colour with a bright garnet hue. This fruit dominant wine opens with lively cherry, raspberry and red forest fruits layered over floral rose notes. Time in the glass reveals intriguing aromas of Mediterranean herbs, nettle and anise. Medium-bodied and juicy with superb balance between fruit and spice offering freshness and softness with an underlying power supported by mouth-coating tannins. 50% of the wine spent 10 months in older puncheons."
93/100 Ray Jordan, WinePilot.com, May 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"Yalumba has been a great champion of Grenache from these older Barossa vines. This one, medium-bodied, highly perfumed and aromatic, and with a delicious, crunchy, vibrant, supple medium-bodied palate loaded with red fruits, a little chocolate, and some slightly leafy notes. Soft, deliciously fruit-driven and screaming for current drinking."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Charming and elegantly perfumed, the bouquet shows sweet plum, raspberry, violet and warm spice aromas. The palate displays silky-smooth mouthfeel combined with fleshy texture and finely melded tannins, finishing lingering and velvety."
92/100 James Halliday's Wine Companion, October 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Mid-ruby with aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant fruits cut with gingery spice, pressed purple flowers, dried orange rind, exotic spice and earth. Plenty of space and spicy detail on the palate with billowing, powdery tannins and a sprightly mineral line. Super value here."
91/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, June 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"Lovely wine. Great for drinking. It presents an attractive mix of savouriness, spiciness and fruitiness, the latter in the red cherry/raspberry area, the former a mix of earth, woodsmoke and roasted woodsy spices. Any day of the week, I’d be happy drinking this."
