Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Some wines are more than just a drink; they’re a memory, a moment, a story in a glass. In the early 2000s, Shotfire Shiraz became one of Thorn-Clarke’s most celebrated wines, instantly recognisable by its bold label and even bolder Barossa character. Now, we invite you to revisit the legend with the Shotfire Collectors Heritage Edition Shiraz, featuring the original nostalgic label that started it all.
This 2021 vintage carries all the hallmarks that made Shotfire Shiraz a household name—rich, dark fruit and layers of black cherry, plum, and spice, seamless oak integration delivering notes of vanilla and dark chocolate and a bold yet refined structure – unmistakably Barossa, undeniably Shotfire."

"Here is the quality of the '21 Barossa vintage on full display. Colour is deep and dense, and the nose shows some nice florals together with the deeper chocolatey, plummy characters that are synonymous with the variety and the region. The palate is rich, deep, dark, and generous with loads of plummy, inky fruit, with a spicy, slightly dark chocolate and mocha character. The striking feature is the balance. The tannins are so fine, yet provide firm support, and the oak is just superbly integrated. Really appealing wine."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2025 (2021 Vintage)
"Gorgeously sweet and instantly appealing, the bouquet shows blackberry, dark plum, star anise, and cedary oak aromas on the nose with a hint of dark cocoa. The palate is equally satisfying with awesome weight and richness, beautifully complemented by plush texture and delightfully melded tannins, finishing impressively long and refined. At its best: now to 2035."
94/100 Ken Gargett, WinePilot.com (2021 Vintage)
"The team have dipped into the past to provide stocks of one of their favourite wines, from what just might be the best vintage of the century. If you missed out first time, jump on board now. It still represents excellent value. Maturation is in a mix of American barrels and hogsheads, 40% of the hogsheads new. Maturation is for a period of fourteen months. An opaque maroon, the extra time in the cellar has ensured an absolutely gorgeous nose, plush and generous, soft and approachable. We have notes of chocolate, mocha, cassis, blackberries, licorice and coffee beans. There is good intensity throughout, including a fine line of acidity running the full journey. A wine chockful of everything. There is exceptional length here and the wine will continue to provide pleasure for at least another fifteen years."
93/100 Campbell Mattinson (2021 Vintage)
"Roasted plum flavours flow into redcurrant, toast, chocolate and caramel, with woodsy spice notes as highlights. This is solid, silken and satisfying at once, with good depth to the fruit – there’s a genuine darkness to this wine – but with lighter, prettier, rose-like notes in the mix as well. We’re on a winner here."
91/100 Dave Brookes, James Halliday's Wine Companion (2021 Vintage)
"Back in the heady old days, a couple of decades ago, I remember folks on US wine forums gushing about this wine. It still over-delivers. Plush, ripe blackberry, black cherry and Doris plum fruits, dredged with mixed spice and hints of licorice, dark chocolate, dried rose petals, roast meats, cassis and turned earth. It smells and tastes like the Barossa, and that, my friends, is a very good thing."
