We've been told how good 2021 Hawkes Bay reds were going to be – now is your chance to see for yourself. Winemaker Ant MacKenzie has his fingers stretched across the Hawkes Bay and is able to access fruit from some of the top vineyards for his own label wines. This is such a pleasurable wine – dark fruits, hints of baking spice with plenty of palate weight and presence, yet finishing soft and supple.
Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"This unique Syrah is grown oin the Kimestone Hills above Havelock North. Traditionally crafted and matured in French oak barrels this wine showcases a density of aroma and purity of concentration on th epalate. Fine grained fruit tannins give the palate structure and balance the opulence of the fruit and oak."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2024 (2021 Vintage)
"Sweetly fruited and fragrant, the wine shows dark plum, thyme, cedar and warm spice aromas on the nose. The palate displays succulent fruit flavours with supple texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing lingering and attractively dry. Beautifully composed and elegantly expressed, offering delightful drinking. At its best: now to 2029."
