Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"This flagship from the Willows vineyard is a tribute to `JG`, his sons and grandsons who ran the Willows hospital for more than 100 years. Planted in 1969, this small Shiraz block consistently grows some of the best fruit from our vineyard each year. Clone unknown, the vineyard is planted on red brown loamy soil over red clay, producing small loose bunches with great concentration of flavour.
A vintage with outstanding quality fruit. The 2021/22 season went `back -to -back` with 20/21. Good rains over winter and early spring, setting up beautiful conditions for flowering and fruit set. A setback in October, when a hailstorm swept through the valley, however damage was isolated. Mild summer temperatures provided perfect conditions for ripening and harvest. A high -quality vintage.
Hand -picked, destemmed to small open fermenters. Hand lunged and fermented to dryness. 12 days total on skins. Basket pressed to barrel. MLF completed in barrel. 24 months in 60 % new, tight grained French Oak hogsheads & demi -muids
This wine shows typical Barossa voluptuous richness and structure, intense and powerful fruit along with supporting fine tannins ad stylish savoury oak. It is a multi -layered powerhouse that will reward those who cellar it well."
93/100 Vintage Journal 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"A deep crimson/purple hue. The nose is full of notes of chocolate, cassis and plums. All very Barossan, all very delicious. There are also touches of smoked meats, dried herbs and cocoa powder. A well -focused wine of medium length with an attractive lingering finish. Bright acidity runs the full journey, which finishes with fine, satiny tannins. A ten -year proposition, there is a lot to like here."

5 Stars & 97/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"Combining power and refinement, the wine shows dark and purple fruit richness, clove, cedary oak and dark cocoa characters on the nose. The concentrated palate delivers impressive weight and depth, splendidly complemented by plush texture and fine-grained tannins. Immensely complex and hugely appealing. At its best: 2026 to 2040."
