Chardonnay is by far and away our most popular white variety, and we are always searching for one that ticks all the taste boxes we know you love. Of course, it has to be at a great price also…

Gavin Yortt, owner of Squawking Magpie in Hawkes Bay, gave us a call a couple of months ago explaining that he had stocks of a special batch of Chardonnay from the 2021 vintage that he'd been left with from a cancelled export… were we interested in a deal? We asked for a sample bottle, were extremely happy with the wine, negotiated a sharp deal, added a snappy label, and here we have it.

The wine is from a couple of special blocks of Squawking Magpie vineyards and the excellent 2021 vintage. The low yielding fruit was in pristine condition and the free run juice fermented and aged in a mixture of new and older French oak. Most went through full malo-lactic.

The result is a wine that highlights the classic Hawkes Bay flavours: golden peach, almost tropical fruit, cashew nut, and subtle spicy oak flavours. Creamy with hints of butterscotch.

We provide a door to door delivery service nationwide. Delivery charges are calculated on a 12 bottle case or part there of.
