Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Beautiful bright black cherry in colour. Lovely perfume of violets, roses and raspberry with a hint of Gimblett stone and dust. Bristling opening on the palate with flavours of raspberry, hints of black cherry, vanilla and charcoal finishing long and creamy with fine soft gravelly tannins. Delicious. Could even be slightly chilled over summer, cellar temperature.
100% hand harvested. Gentle de-stemming to leave a large percentage of whole berries in the fermentation. Plunged over once or twice a day during fermentation to aid gentle tannin extraction. A range of barrel maturations – 30% of the blend for 13 months, and 70% for 8 months in 1-4 year old barrels. No fining."

"This wine demonstrates how great Cabernet Franc can be—a terrific rendition of the variety, exhibiting purity, power, and refinement. The enticing bouquet shows Black Doris plum, sweet cherry, bouquet garni, cured meat, and assorted nut characters. The palate displays excellent weight and richness, with finesse and structure, a plush texture, and beautifully integrated chalky tannins, finishing superbly long and satisfying. At its best: 2027 to 2036."
5 Stars & 95/100 Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review, February 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"The old-vine cabernet franc from the Fratelli Vineyard is lifted by the addition of 14% cabernet sauvignon from their own Omahu estate, showcasing the beautifully compact and long, concentrated style of 2024. Everything was aged in one to four year-old oak barrels with about 30% of it spending 13 months while the majority spent 8 months in them.
Tobacco and bay leaf aromas add a ripe herbal note to the blackcurrant bush and warming oak spice flavours. The palate is structured, the firm and crunchy acidity balanced against grainy, grippy tannins and wood. The mid-weight flavours maintain a youthful austerity, eventually giving way to late saline olive notes on the finish. Give this another year in bottle to meld and enjoy over the mid-term with food."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2024 (2024 Vintage)
"Aromas of purple fruits and kalamata olive, some chocolate and black spice ideas then smoky barrel and dark earth. Dry and rather delicious on the palate with a firm texture, plenty of acidity and earthy qualities framing the core of fruit and olive ideas suggested in the bouquet. Polished tannins and acidity deliver the backbone while the fruit coats the palate with flavour. Lengthy, dry and delicious with best drinking from late 2026 through 2032."
