Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Lifted aromatics, subtle florals, and fine tannins open into raspberry, black cherries, Black Forest and gentle earthy notes. A delicate iodine–saline thread carries the wine through to a long, refined finish. Poised, balanced, and quietly intriguing, it reveals depth as it unfolds in the glass.
2024 was a classic Hawke’s Bay Summer. Exceptionally low yields — with the Cabernet Franc down by 50% — have heightened concentration, resulting in wines that are beautifully approachable in their youth, yet age beautifully.
Hand picked and destemmed with 100% whole berries. Cold soaked for 4-5 days and fermented in small open top fermenters. 24 months in new (30%) and old French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, June 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"A bouquet that speaks to its Latin origins with scents of cherry, then red plums and woos with some baking spices, then plum and raspberry jam. Decent concentration and intrigue with soft dried herb ideas and a stone-earth foundation. Dry and very appealing on the palate with fresh berry flavours, some sweetness of wood, a backbone of acidity and abundance of tannins – both fruit and wood. Well made, lengthy, youthful and taut, lots of violets on the finish, a wine only just beginning to reveal its personality and style. Best drinking from 2029 through 2035+."
