Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Saint Clair Godfrey’s Creek Reserve Noble Riesling is grown on John and Lynne Walsh’s vineyard in the heart of Marlborough’s Wairau Valley. Carefully selected grape bunches were hung on the vine until late in the season to promote raisining and botrytis. The grapes were hand harvested, whole bunch pressed and tank fermented with a specially selected yeast strain. The fermentation was arrested at the point where the residual sugar perfectly balanced the natural aciditys. Residual sugar 111g/L

Deliciously complex aromas with rich layers of honeycomb, dried apricot and fig. The luscious, opulent palate is layered with dried papaya and savoury ginger, with an intense and generous finish."

Saint Clair Family Estate is a pioneering winery in Marlborough, New Zealand, owned by Neal and Judy Ibbotson. The couple began their viticultural journey in 1978 by supplying grapes to other companies, but in 1994, they established their own winery to showcase the quality of their vineyards. The estate is named after the Sinclair family, who were the first settlers on the land. Saint Clair's mission is to produce world-class wines by combining Neal's expertise in viticulture, the unique Marlborough terroir, and a talented winemaking team.

The business remains a family affair, with the Ibbotsons' three children, Tony, Sarina, and Julie, involved in design, sales, and marketing, respectively. A strong focus on viticulture is central to their success, with Jarrah Prior leading the viticultural team. Since their inaugural vintage in 1994, which earned multiple medals, the winery has consistently received international acclaim and a reputation for producing high-quality wines that exceed customer expectations.
