"The most recent addition to McArthur Ridge Wines Premier Cru collection, this hand-crafted Chardonnay is an extremely limited release.

The Springvale name is inspired by the sub-region located on the outskirts of the Alexandra basin, named after the complex underground aquifers which are spring fed from glacial snow melt, enabling the land. This inspiring mountain region is home to McArthur Ridge vineyards.

Springvale Chardonnay displays great elegance, balance and purity, flavours of white stone fruit combine harmoniously with lemon and hints of brioche delivering wonderful complexity. We expect this wine to reward careful cellaring over the next 5 years.

Inspired by the famous Chablis style, hand harvested fruit was gently pressed, then fermented with indigenous yeast in 225 litre French oak barrels, 10% new, with the balance in seasoned oak, left to age ten months in barrel on light lees without stirring, Malolactic fermentation was encouraged to soften acidity and add rich complexity before blending and finishing without fining."

The Alexandra Collection represents the vineyard's Premier Cru level, showcasing handcrafted wines that capture the unique characteristics of Central Otago’s terroir. Crowning their offerings is the McArthur Grand Cru Pinot Noir, inspired by the vineyard’s founder, James McArthur. This dark crimson wine, with its bold bouquet of savoury red berries and sweet vanilla, demonstrates the vineyard's continual pursuit of perfection.
