These guys have been producing bubbly for years. Originally as Morton Estate, then they sold the brand, kept the winery and vineyards and re-branded as Leveret. This current release is great and represents huge value.
"A limited edition, special release sparkling wine made from the classic Methode Traditionnelle varieties of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The grapes for this wine are mainly sourced from our Hawkes Bay vineyards located in the upper river terraces of the Ngaruroro River. Traditional methods of sparkling winemaking are used, firstly through a primary fermentation with a neutral yeast strain, followed by a complete malo-lactic fermentation. The base wines are then blended after 12 months maturation on lees prior to filtration and tirage ready for fermentation in the bottle. Following bottle fermentation the wines are left for at least 18 months on the fermentation lees.Lees ageing in bottle for a minimum of 18 months has produced a wine of great complexity exhibiting nutty, yeasty aromas complemented by subtle fruit flavours. The palate is full and round with exceptional length."

"This vivacious Hawke's Bay sparkling is a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, disgorged after a minimum of 18 months on its yeast lees. The non-vintage wine I tasted in mid-2019 is bright, light yellow and invitingly scented, with fresh, lively grapefruit and peach flavours, biscuity, yeasty characters adding complexity, and a crisp, finely balanced finish."

"No holds barred, this is absolutely one of my favourite ways to get fizzicle. ‘IQ’ means ‘improving quietly’ and this bold, biscuity, creamy, cashew-laden bubbly has been doing just that, aging on its yeast lees for years to develop these delicate smoky notes, white peach, lemon shortbread and a long, luscious texture. Crafted by long-term methode-master Nic Millichip in the cellars of their tiny, Katikati cellars, it’s jawdroppingly good with creamy steamed clams with garlic & tarragon pasta."

"Our panel was blown away at the price of this bottle-fermented bubbly; it has the all the hallmarks of a more expensive brand. Roasted nuts, complex, yeasty autolysis notes, over citrus fruit characters, followed up by a lovely creamy midpalate and clean finish."
