"When it comes to sherry you are tasting on a spectrum from light and lithe fino to the rich and luscious PX and everything in between. In this case, indulgence won the day – but when does it not, especially at this time of year? Is there a more ‘treat yourself’ season than Christmas? After yet another year of pandemic mayhem, I think we deserve it.If you’re a sweet tooth looking for something with which to treat yourself, you’re not going to go wrong with a sherry that has both ‘Nectar’ and ‘Dulce’ (the Spanish word for sweet) as part of the title. Sherry – in order to be called sherry – must come from a region in southwest Spain called ‘The Sherry Triangle’. This protected designation of origin ensures that only true sherry comes from this region. Anything else is a sherry-style fortified wine.
Rest assured this sherry is the real deal, hailing from Jerez and made with 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes and aged for an average of eight years in American oak barrels in the traditional solera system. Boasting a whopping 370 grams of residual sugar, this luscious delight has an opaque almost black colour which is viscous in the glass and the slightest swirl reveals aromas of green tea, raisins and figs. These aromas flow through to the palate to meet flavours of ripe dates and a fascinating saltiness that provides support with the sweetness through the palate. An incredible sherry with wonderful balance and lip-smacking moreishness."

"This is a Sherry but not how you would know it. Rich, luscious, toffee, malt, raisins, it is Christmas Cake in a glass. A truly decadent treat – only share with good friends – or don’t share at all. A memorable experience."
Garth Gallaway, Avenues Magazine
"Nectar of the Gods would describe this utterly hedonistic, sweet, and luscious Sherry made from the Pedro Ximenez grape variety. Fantastically rich and dark, it just oozes with intense and continuous golden raisin and dried fig flavours wrapped up in swathe of superbly lubricious and syrupy joy. 'Sherry has never been as good as this, at least not for me. This is dark and brooding and the flavours are extraordinarily good. Dates, figs, caramel and prunes in abundance, with a silky smooth texture. I recommend this as a wonderful wine to drink with a good, stodgy winter pudding.'"
92/100 Huon Hooke, The Real Review, December 2018
"This is part of the base range for Gonzalez Byass, a great Sherry house, and is a relatively young, eight-year-old blend. With a deep amber colour and oily consistency in the glass, it offers a rich raisin aroma and is very rich and very sweet, luscious and unctuous. A decadently delicious super-sweetie."
91/100 Decanter Wine Awards 2016
"Beautifully vibrant, with gorgeous aromas of intense sultana, prune and fig. The palate is complex and rich, with sweet spice, caramel, coffee and chocolate. Intensely full, with a beautiful, mouth filling texture."
