The vineyard, purchased by Nicolas Thienpont in 1988, produces a dry white wine that has proven its ability to age and compete with the great white Bordeaux wines. The core of the blend is made up of old vines, over 70 years old. The predominance of Semillon as well as the vinification techniques (fermentation in barrels, maturing on lees) give the wine vivacity and roundness.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"The vineyard, acquired by Nicolas Thienpont in 1988, produces a dry wine made like a great Bordeaux white, which has helped to boost the appellation’s revival. The predominance of Semillon and the winemaking techniques used (fermentation in 500L barrels, maturation on the lees for six months) give the wine intensity and liveliness.
Fermented in barrel and matured on its lees, the wine draws texture and depth from traditional élevage while preserving freshness and lift. The predominance of old-vine Sémillon, combined with careful oak integration, brings both roundness and vibrancy.
Rich, concentrated, medium-bodied white with terrific aromatics of ripe melons, honeyed white flowers, chalk, and toasted nuts. This textured—yet still vibrant and pure—white is geared for the dinner table. Clean and taut with great focus from start to finish."

"What an enjoyable wine, laden with white flowers, rosemary and freshly cut herbs, expanding into a rich citrus mid-palate. This is a more gourmet style of white wine that would be great with food, because it has depth, grip and roundness. Lovely. Aged in 5,000l oak casks, just 15% new oak."
