Expressive with aromas and flavours of fresh green apples and pears (similar in profile to other beloved Bogle lines) but with the small addition of Chenin Blanc, a variety planted in the original ‘Twenty Acres’ of Bogle’s humble beginnings, which adds a unique line of notes to this wine – honeysuckle and floral aromatics, bright melon flavours, and crisp acidity are a wonderful underscore to the toasty vanilla and caramel notes, along with a rich texture.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"This sustainably grown Chardonnay represents Clarksburg, the place our family has called home for 6 generations. A generous blend of 11% Chenin Blanc speaks to our history, as the first white grape variety we planted all those years ago. Combining this Chenin, fermented in stainless steel, with Chardonnay fermented and aged sur lie in new French oak, brings forth a wine with delicious complexity and food-friendly acidity.
Our Clarksburg Chardonnay unveils a symphony of flavors with crisp green apples and succulent pears taking center stage. Enveloped in the subtle embrace of lemon meringue, a touch of toasty vanilla imparts a warm, comforting nuance. Crafted through meticulous barrel fermentation in new French oak and sur lies aging, this Chardonnay emerges as a masterpiece of complexity and textured elegance. Blending our selection of Clarksburg Chenin Blanc introduces a refreshing note of crisp honeydew melon.
Our Chardonnay is sur lie aged for 11 months in new French oak, while our Chenin Blanc is fermented in 100% stainless steel."
