A sparkling Pét-Nat (Ancestral Method) from Black Estate's organically certified 'Home' vineyards. This 100% Chenin Blanc is one of New Zealand's best examples of this style. Totally delicious!
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"White gold hue with fine mousse. Delicate mealy aromas, flint, white peach, strawberry, lanolin, and bees wax. Effervescent, mouth filling, and luminous with dense dry phenolic’s and an invigorating salty Home Vineyard finish. Drink today. Vibrant and alive this wine requires care when opening. Stand upright and chill to 8 degrees centigrade. Open the crown cap with a decanter ready to capture any overflowing wine. No winemaking additives, un-fined, unfiltered.
Slowly whole bunch pressed. Settled for 24 hours, racked and inoculated. Fermentation with yeast propagated from a Home Block vineyard starter, in a stainless steel tank, then completed in bottle. Fermenting wine was bottled on April 27 2023. Fermentation was completed in bottle and then aged on lees for 13 months. Riddling occurred in gyropalettes from March 2024. Disgorged on May 8 2024."

"A calm yet sophisticated bouquet for this expression of wine, aromas of apples and lime, lees and fresh white spices then a small bouquet of blossoms. Crisp and dry with a tidy flourish of mousse with small bubbles and a soft mushroom effect. Flavours of lees then fruit to reflect the bouquet. Dry, taut and youthful with best drinking from day of purchase through 2026."

I had been searching for a very specific wine and I finally found it here. Not only did they have the wine I was searching for, they had a beautiful collection of other wines. If you are a wine lover, be sure to check out Vino Fino. The staff were very knowledgeable on the types of wine and the wine makers. I will be coming back again for sure.

Unfortunately I just think the service could have been friendlier. I knew what I wanted so should have been an easy customer so started telling my list to the not overly friendly person who asked me if I was ok. They didn’t have everything I wanted which I was fine with but then the two people at the till didn’t even say hello or offer any sort of acknowledgement which I think is quite rude. This was my first time in and I just felt like it should have been a little better. I’ve always thought these guys were the Ballantynes of the Christchurch Liqour scene but the inside just reminded me of a pop up warehouse. Sorry team, but I think you could look and be better.

Possibly the best wine shop in New Zealand. I've been coming here for 11+ years. Excellent, interesting wines at a range of price points; friendly, personal and knowledgeable service. If the wall of Sauv Blanc, Pinot Gris, Shiraz and Pinot Noir at the supermarket doesn't do it for you, you need to sign up for Vino Fino's email. They work hard to get sharp prices on very good wines.

An amazing selection of wine from pretty much all over the planet! Price are decent too and for sure if you are good at spotting the right wine can get some amazing wines to a more than fair price! Parking is a bit of an issue but worst come to worst can park at the south city carpark and walk 100m!
