Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"The 2015 Petite Sirah is deep purple in colour, with an exceptionally bright hue. The nose is filled with ripe blackberry, toffee and a bit of clove. Flavours of juicy dark berry fruit are abundant. The round dense wine has a mocha finish."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March (2014 Vintage)
"Bold, punchy and delectable, this gorgeous red is filled with blackberry, dark plum, chocolate and toasted nut characters with subtle spicy complexity. The palate delivers generosity and opulence together with loads of ripe fruit flavours and velvety texture, finishing superbly long and smooth. At its best: now to 2020."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 Raymond Chan, October 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"Very dark, saturated black-hued purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose is very full and up-front with bold and deeply concentrated aroma of ripe fruits, showing blackberries, boysenberries, dark raspberries, black plums, along with layers of Asia spices and cedary oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate features sweetly ripe and concentrated, juicy and opulent flavours of blackberries, boysenberries, dark raspberries, plums and liquorice melded with layers of spice and oak. The fruit is underlined by fine-grained tannin extraction and structure with integrated acidity, allowing the fruit to retain accessibility. The flavours of black and blue fruits, liquorice, spices and cedary oak carry to a long, lingering fulsome flavoured finish with dry, balancing textures. This is a rich, opulent up-front and accessible sweetly-fruited Petite Sirah with black and blue fruits, liquorice and spices and cedary oak on a fine-structured and concentrated palate. Match with roasted and slow cooked game meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. California fruit fermented in tank to 13.5% alc., the wine aged approx. 6 months in new and seasoned French and American oak."
Sue Courtney, wineoftheweek.com, Januray 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Youthful bright purple red in the glass with chocolate, mocha and mushrooms on the nose and a smooth creamy palate with loads of ripe redcurrant fruit, pepper, mocha, leather, roasted herbs and a terrifically fulsome and flavoursome finish with lingering hips of rosehip jelly. Heading into the irresistible category."
Metro Top 50 Wines for Winter, May 2017 (2015 Vintage)
"Petite sirah originates in southern France (where it is known as durif), but it appears to have found a new home in California, where it thrives in the dry inland regions, away from the moderating influence of the Pacific Ocean. This is a benchmark example at a great price to boot. Bold peppery, brambly aromas are counterpointed with vanillin oak: in the mouth the rich, raisiny fruit is balanced with edgy tannins and a sappy finish. A hearty, warming wine with loads of character."
