Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"Deep dark plum colour with a nose of red and black cherry and plum fruits. Vineyard elements of spice and blue flowers shine through beautifully into the textural palate of expanding blueberry and ripened plum. Long fine-grained tannins threaded with subtle French oak smoke, support the fruit throughout. Full bodied and perfect for enjoying with food now or cellaring for 8+ years."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2015 Vintage)
"The delicious 2015 vintage was matured in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Deep and youthful in colour, it is highly fragrant, mouthfilling and supple, with rich, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, finely structured and long. A classy, age-worthy wine, it should be at its best 2018+."
94/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2015 Vintage)
"Ripe, fruity and intense with ripe dark berry fruits and plum, a brambly bracken and dried herb layer, brown kitchen spices and medium+ oak layer, obvious complexity. On the palate - equally fruity and brambly with flavours of dried spice, plum and black cherry, youthful tannins and a back bone of acidity - both need time to integrate and hunker down, lengthy finish and complexity is obvious. Well made, youthful, time required. Best drinking from 2018 through 2028."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 Raymond Chan, October 2016 (2015 Vintage)
"Dark, deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on edge. This has a rich and concentrated nose of ripe, dark raspberry and red plum aromas entwined with a fine layer of spice, and lifted by dark-red and violet florals, along with aromatic oak elements. Medium-full bodied, rich, lively and vibrant fruit flavours of dark raspberries and red plums show with primary vibrancy. The fruit is detailed by dark herb and spice elements, and subtle violet floral notes. Fine grained tannin extraction supports the fruit with balancing grip and structure, and the mouthfeel is enlivened by fresh acidity, providing tension and energy. The wine carries to a long, lingering, fine-textured, dry finish with raspberry, plum and spice nuances. This is a rich, sweet, raspberry and plum fruited Pinot Noir with fine-grained tannin and grip, and fresh acid poise, and a dry finish. Match with pork, beef, lamb and venison over the next 6+ years. Hand-picked fruit, indigenous yeast fermented with low levels of whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 5 weeks on skins and aged 11 months in 30% new French oak. 2,792 cases made."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2015 Vintage)
"The bouquet is inviting and complex, displaying dark cherry, plum, clove and dried herb characters with hints of game and mushroom notes. The palate is elegantly weighted and finely textured, and delivers excellent focus and persistence. A beautifully composed pinot offering attractive fruit flavours with savoury complexity. At its best: now to 2019."
