From the famous Clayvin vineyard, a living tribute to Marlborough’s viticultural history, comes this outstanding Pinot Noir. Established in 1993, Clayvin Vineyard was Marlborough’s first significant hillside vineyard. It is North facing, has high density planting and is farmed organically. The wine exhibits awesome presence on the palate with rich mouthfeel and loads of fine, grainy tannins. Bold and stylish, and finishes extremely long. At its best: now to 2025."

"Pale to medium ruby-purple coloured, the 2013 Single Vineyard Selection Clayvin Pinot Noir has an earthy, garrigue and damp soil laced nose over a core of wild strawberries and red cherries and a pretty waft of jasmine. It has a restrained, earthy, somewhat mineral / iron ore character in the mouth with good intensity and a structured foundation, finishing with great length. It seems to have the stuffing for further development and I'd certainly like to cellar this for 5-6 years+ and come back to it again!"

Writing in the Expert's Choice section of Decanter magazine (June 2015), Peter McCombie MW notes that in Marlborough 'we are seeing wines with more substantial structure'. The Clayvin Pinot Noir produced in the historical Marlborough vineyard is of the same name is described as: "Bursting with black cherry, baked tamarillo, vanilla and spice aromas; sweetly fruity and quite substantial on the palate, with firm grip and juicy acidity. Will improve."
