96/100 Cameron Douglas MS (2014 Vintage)
"Intense, bold and slightly broody bouquet of dark currants and black berry fruits, plenty of freshly cracked black peppercorn, fresh new wood tones and a heady perfume of wild raspberry. On the palate - textures of tannin, acidity and wood surround by ripe primary red fruit flavours of black currant and dark raspberries; toasted vanilla, clove and brown baking spices; a youthful and engaging wine with a juicy red fruits core, medium to fine tannins and plenty of acidity. A lengthy finish ending as it began with a broody, bold and intense package of flavours and textures. Delicious to drink now if decanted, but perhaps best from 2018 through 2028."
4 1/2 Stars Michael Cooper (2014 Vintage)
"Estate-grown in the Gimblett Gravels and matured for 14 months in French oak barriques and 5000-litre ovals (new and old), the 2014 vintage is a blend of Syrah (97 per cent) and Viognier (3 per cent). A stylish, youthful red, it is dark and fragrant, in a medium to full-bodied, vibrantly fruity style. It has strong, ripe plum, spice and black-pepper flavours, savoury notes adding complexity and good cellaring potential. Best drinking 2018+."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 Raymond Chan, September 2016 (2014 Vintage)
"Very dark, near impenetrable black-hued purple-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. This has a full and voluminous nose with layers of aromatic black-berried fruits with fragrant violet and black-red florals, unfolding subtle notes of black pepper and spices. This exudes elegant beauty and purity and blossoms with ethereal detail. Medium-full bodied, the palate features very ripe black fruits entwines with an array of florals and perfumes. The mouthfeel is vibrant and lively, enhanced by fresh, lacy acidity, and the palate is underling by grainy tannin textures. The structure carries the fruit to a firm, dry finish. This is a beautifully fragrant Syrah with an array of black fruit and floral aromatics on a fresh, lively, grainy-textured palate. 8+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Tin Shed’ and ‘Gimblett Stones’ vineyards, 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, fermented with 20% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in new and seasoned French oak barriques and 5,000 L oak ovals."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2014 Vintage)
"The fabulous perfume is almost intoxicating. Aromas of dark and purple fruit together with violet, clove and cedar lead to a beautifully weighted, elegantly expressed palate that is stylish and plump at the same time. Awesome fruit purity and harmony. Persistent and promising. At its best: 2017 to 2024."
