Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Bright, fresh, and fruit-driven, this vibrant Nouveaux-style Grenache is crafted to be enjoyed in its youth. With refreshing acidity, lively fruit, and floral aromas, it’s an easy-drinking wine with a touch of tannin for balance. Juicy and medium-bodied, it pairs perfectly with your favourite dumplings. Grown in the cooler, elevated northeast of McLaren Vale, this Grenache captures the essence of our single estate vineyard.
100% estate grown Grenache Noir, bush vines predominantly planted 2008. Handpicked, destemmed and selectively sorted with 50% whole berries retained, tipped to open-top fermenters. Wild fermentation in stainless steel, gentle maceration on skins for approximately 15 – 21 days before pressing. 5 months maturation on lees in stainless steel and old French oak puncheons and foudre."
95/100 Marcus Ellis, James Halliday's Wine Companion (2024 Vintage)
"This is a nice foil to the Old Vine bottling, showing what relatively youthful vines can do on this great site. There’s an open red-berried and cherry fruitfulness, with red florals supported by savoury spice and a foundation of purposeful natural tannin. This doesn’t have the mineral depth of the Old Vine, but the fruit vibrancy and exuberance yield their own rewards."
