Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Bright garnet hue with savoury/spice aromas of wild thyme, rosemary, fennel and mushroom complemented by dark cherry, ripe strawberry and dried rose petals. The elegantly structured palate is layered and compact with a purposeful flow, much like an alpine river in springtime. This exceptional vintage has the fine tannins and exquisite perfume that are the hallmarks of Gibbston Pinot Noir. Concentrated and delicious at release, this wine will continue to provide enjoyment for 20+/- years."
5 Stars & 98/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, April 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"It's totally seductive on the nose with stunning fruit purity and perfume, showing ripe cherry, floral, mushroom, thyme, and toasted almond notes, followed by a finely flowing palate that's wonderfully rounded and plump. Tannins are fine and beautifully infused, making it superbly structured with a sustained, refined finish. At its best: 2026 to 2038."
96/100 Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com, Wine Advocate, February 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"The 2023 Gibbston Vineyard Pinot Noir is fresh, juicy and texturally detailed, with chalky, supple tannins that fill the mouth and saline acidity that courses through the layers of floral, red-berry fruit. There is real drive and elegance here. It's a superb wine, as all of these Valli Pinots tend to be. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap."
5 Stars & 19.5/20 (98) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, April 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"Moderately deep crimson, lighter on the rim. The nose is immediately pleasing, with concentrated aromas of cherry, black raspberry, deep floral, undergrowth, and delicate spice. Medium-bodied, with aromas of red cherry and black raspberry entwined with tamarillo, unfolding black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg spices, undergrowth and hibiscus. Lacy, enticing acidity flows with good energy and precision. Finely woven, powdery tannins coated the mouth in satin and imparted deep fragrances that lingered. An exceptional vintage, this wine is a classic Gibbston Pinot Noir, seductive, harmonious, and profound, one for the long-term cellar. Match with stuffed pigeon and duck breast over the next 15+ years. Fermented with 25% whole bunch, aged 11 months in French oak barrels, 27% new oak. 13% alc."
