Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
"From Two Terraces vineyard in Mangatahi, inland Hawke’s Bay, where the grapes are grown on ancient river terraces formed by the Ngaruroro River. This site produces small, concentrated bunches of Albariño with plenty of intensity. Machine harvested then foot-stomped in-vineyard to ensure maximum slushiness & skin contact for the hour-long drive to the winery. A small portion (5%) was held back for a two week skin ferment, while the rest was pressed on the day of harvest, cold settled, and racked to seasoned oak for natural fermentation. The skin-fermented portion was later used to top the barrels.
The wine spent 11 months on lees, with stirring kept to a minimum. As always with Three Fates Albariño, bright and tangy acidity is the star here. A heady nose of barley sugar, sweet navel orange, and nectarine is bound to delight. Packed with juicy orange, stone fruit, white florals and that distinctive salty finish; this is a very fun wine to pair with food or simply glug away at!"
94/100 Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review, May 2026 (2025 Vintage)
"Zesty and vibrantly aromatic, this bursts from the glass with crushed ginger, orange blossom, lemon and kaffir lime, zipping along an electrifying spine of acidity and lovely, pithy phenolics. Ripe yet still light on its feet, this finely balanced wine dances across the palate effortlessly and with a lingering floral perfume on the dry yet juicy finish. Enjoy it immediately for its refreshing bite or let it develop in bottle for a couple of years to gain honeyed, spicy complexity."
