Double Gold – New Zealand International Wine Show 2025
Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
“The Advocate Albariño is grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle sub-region of Hawke’s Bay. Warm temperatures and free draining silt over red metal gravels provide perfect growing conditions.
Fruit for this wine is harvested and gently pressed, before the clarified juice underwent fermentation in both stainless steel tanks and old French oak barrels. Post fermentation, the wine was kept on yeast lees with periodic stirring to introduce complexity and texture.
Expressive aromatics of ripe lime and peach are a prelude to an intensely fresh and juicy palate with a sweet, salted core of citrus fruits providing a mouthwatering finish.”
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2025 (2025 Vintage)
“Pristine and elegantly lifted, showing apricot, green rockmelon, lemon peel, and white flower nuances. It’s juicy and vibrant in the mouth, displaying fine flow backed by crisp acidity, finishing persistent and exuberant. At its best: now to 2029.”
5 Stars & Number 2 Cuisine Albariño Tasting, April 2026 (2025 Vintage)
“Green peach and white florals come together on the nose with tropical fruit and citrus pith. The palate is fresh and juicy with a lovely acid line and a fantastic texture. This wine is clean and expressive with an altogether elegant presence.”
92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2025 (2025 Vintage)
“Varietal, focused and nicely intense with aromas and flavours of ripe peach and citrus peel, this is followed by flavours of apple and white spice, lees and some mineral suggestions of stone. Dry, balanced, youthful and well made with chalky texture, a touch of saline freshness and medium+ length. ON its own or with food, a wine that will suit many palates and budgets. Best drinking from 2025 through 2029+.”
