Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"When the Clarke forbears discovered gold in 1870 at the Lady Alice mine in the Barossa goldfields, so began a family dynasty intrigued by geology. A fine legacy that is reflected today in the terroir of our vineyards. The Shotfire range immortilises the Shotfirer’s hazardous job of setting and lighting the charges.
This generous blend boasts a rich deep red-purple colour. Aromas of blackberries, satsuma plum and anise fill the glass. On the palate, plush tannins are accompanied by rich notes of cassis and blackcurrant. Together they produce a wine with lavish density, complexity and length. A wine that can be enjoyed now or laid down to age for many years.
The fruit was harvested at night. Fermentation was carried out in a variety of small capacity fermenters. After pressing the parcels were filled to French oak for 12 months maturation. The wine was racked after six months and the parcels were blended to form the final wine."

93/100 Tyson Stelzer, James Halliday's Wine Companion (2018 Vintage)
"A characterful and ageworthy blend in which malbec and cabernet franc play more than a support role, defining not only fragrant lift and savoury complexity, but deepening a fine, dry tannin profile. The crunchy redcurrants of cabernet uphold a bright, tangy core of freshness and integrity, holding long through an even and enduring finish. One for the cellar."
92/100 James Suckling (2018 Vintage)
"This is rich and has some earthy elements with dried red fruit, leaves, blackcurrants, gentle spice and blueberries. The palate has a very concentrated feel with breadth of flavour and then some longer-driving fruit, too. Blueberries and blackberries. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, malbec, cabernet franc and merlot. Drink over the next six years."
