Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"We love Riesling as a variety for its purity, elegance and age ability and believe that our old vines (mostly planted in late 70s) combined with the growing conditions here in Marlborough are capable of making world class Riesling. Our SV (SV5182) Riesling ‘D’ is a dry style which has excellent fruit weight and concentration to balance the lingering mineral acid structure. This wine is finely structured with great length of flavour.
This wine has gorgeous lifted aromas of jasmine, fresh lemon, and ripe Kaffir lime follow through on to the palate. Flavours of fresh lime juice, lemon sorbet and ripe grapefruit with hints of floral spice are balanced by a fine backbone of ripe acidity. This Riesling is a dry style which has excellent fruit weight and concentration to balance the lingering mineral acid structure. This wine is finely structured with great length of flavour."
5 Stars & 97/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2023 (2021 Vintage)
"Exquisitely composed and finely scented, the delicately fragrant bouquet shows lime cordial, jasmine, lemon pith and crunchy apple characters, followed by a finely flowing palate that’s pristine and focused. It’s light on its feet with saline texture backed by perfectly pitched acidity, finishing persistent and gracefully slim. At its best: 2025 to 2036."
Rated Outstanding & 96/100 Cameron Douglas MS, January 2023 (2021 Vintage)
"This is an outstanding wine, I am captivated and impressed with the focus and concentration of aromas and flavours leading to a palate of energy and power. Core flavours are led by lemon stone and citrus lime-flower quality, white apricot and a touch of white pineapple. As the wine opens out in glass these flavours sit nicely beside those of blossoms and apple, honeysuckle and baby’s breath floral highlights. The acidity and moderate alcohol carry the flavours throughout the palate leading to a lengthy dry finish. A perfect aperitif wine and equally delicious with delicately sweet seafood dishes. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2025."
Jane Skilton MW, Gourmet Traveller Wine (2021 Vintage)
"Vividly fruited with an aroma of succulent green apple sorbet, freshly squeezed lemon and just a hint of flint. Although the wine is subtle and finely boned, there is an impressive purity and concentration leading to a long, focused dry finish. While this will no doubt develop further it is tremendously appealing now."

93/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, May 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"Te Whare Ra are one of the champs of organic farming in NZ, a potent combo of Aus and NZ wife and husband too; a superior mongrel like a Labradoodle or similar. Here’s a rizza. And it is D for Dry. Limey and refreshing, even keeled and smooth sailing. Just so brisk acidity underneath a splashy, slippery feel of citrus, blackcurrant and lemon sorbet, extends long, draws out some talc-puff minerality and ends up being an utter delight, and kind of understated. Tick, tick, tick them boxes."
