Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Most people would be unaware that Cabernet Sauvignon has been planted in the Barossa since at least 1888. Barossa Cabernets are rich, full flavoured wines and are a perfect fit into the Rockford stable. The fruit for this wine comes predominantly from vineyards along Rifle Range Road. The ‘Biscay’ soil of these vineyards is heavy clay, lending the wine its full flavour and earthy tones. The perfect wine to hide in your cellar, for as long as you are able."
95/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, October 2024 (2021 Vintage)
"If you’re a fan of Rockford, and indeed Rifle Range, then this won’t disappoint. It’s red and black fruited with dark chocolate flavours, some tobacco, slight mint and baking spice, but has that pleasing rose and vanilla perfume that these wines often show. It supple and flows along really nicely, though despite the stated alcohol, it does taste quite ripe, though that’s an observation, not a problem. Lavish fruit, but with a savoury component, and good balance throughout. Tannin is there, sooty and gently chewy. The length is good too. It’s sort of a warm hug from the Barossa in terms of Cabernet style, but it’s a lovely wine, and thoroughly charming. It’s just over the line for 95 points."
