Gold Medal – Marlborough Wine Show 2024
Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2024
The Rapaura Springs Rohe series Sauvignon Blancs have become benchmark sub-regional wines and none more so than this Dillons Point. The vines are along the confluence of the Wairau and Opawa Rivers, near Marlborough’s coast. The combination of deep, young, mineral-rich alluvial silts, layered over sand and the sea-salt laden air give the wine a distinctive character which is very appealing. Like the previous vintages this will be one of the standout Sauvignon Blancs from 2024.
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"This wine oozes ripeness, with intense passionfruit and blackcurrant flavours, that combine with a salty minerality unique to Dillon's Point. This wine is immediately expressive but will continue to drink well for the next three years.
Dillon’s Point is defined by the confluence of the Wairau and Opawa Rivers, near Marlborough’s coast. The sub-region has deep, young, mineral-rich alluvial silts, layered over sand, which our Sauvignon Blanc vines thrive on."
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, February 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"An excellent bouquet filled with scents of citrus and apple, tropical fruits, peach and salty green herbs. Pungent, enticing and generously attractive. Delicious on the palate with a salivating, fleshy, tropical fruits and citrus filled flavour package. A saline acid line enhances the idea of minerality and wild white flowers. Fruit spice and cape gooseberry flavours on the finish. Best drinking from 2025 through 2029."
94/100 David Walker Bell, WineFolio.co.nz, February 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"This family of wines from Rapaura Springs have had re-designed golden labels for the 2024 vintage. The word ‘ROHE’ means territory, and the range showcases Marlborough’s sub-regions. Dillon’s Point is located near the Marlborough coast, where the Wairau and Opaoa rivers meet. A translucent silvery green in the glass. No mistaking that this is Marlborough Sav once the cap is off. Leading with blackcurrant on the nose, and lime curd, passionfruit, lemon peel, mandarin follow swiftly behind, in an intense rush. Immediately ripe and sweet to taste, but when a swoop of salty acidity comes in there is a balanced energy and mouth-watering drive through the palate. White pepper, green herbs and talc merge as the fruit turns tropical and plush. The finish is long and juicy."
