Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"The Masters wines are named after a person whom, or event that, has played an intrinsic role in the Peter Lehmann story. Crafted from the classic Barossa varietals, the wines are released with 5 years of bottle age and will continue to age gracefully for many years. Peter Lehmann had great passion for the arts and ‘Eight Songs for A Mad King’ was one of his favourite ensemble musical works. Inspired by its soft harmonies, Peter created a wine to show an elegant and distinctly softer side to Barossa Shiraz.
This Shiraz has a deep crimson in colour with purple hues, rich and fragrant with abundant satsuma plum, blueberry and dusty cedar notes. The palate is all about texture and mouthfeel, with rich ripe plums, dark chocolate and a pure fruited long savoury finish."

"If you seek a generously proportioned Barossan shiraz; one that retains its sense of place with just a sprinkle of contemporary flair, the 8 Songs is a good bet. It's a deep red purple in the glass, with heady aromas of black plum, cherry and blueberry, underscored by baking spice, dark chocolate and lovely French oak. Weighty with a velvety flow, fine, gypsum-like tannins and no shortage of pure horsepower on the exit. Bold yet fleshy and graceful. No mean feat! Impressive stuff."
94/100 Angus Hughson, WinePilot.com (2018 Vintage)
"The Eight Songs Shiraz has always been a reflection of the man Peter Lehmann. Big, bold and generous, this is the classic Barossa Shiraz style that welcomes the drinker with open arms before delivering both fruit power and subtlety. It’s like a liquid box of chocolates with pure black and blue fruits on the riper side with a subtle dusting of spice, all wrapped up with high quality French oak. The palate delivers the same with plush dark fruits lifted by red liquorice accents that are underscored by some quite significant but well integrated tannins. This is more serious than it first appears. It then finishes long and fleshy with the overall package very well balanced. It’s a crowd pleaser for sure but also has fantastic depth which provides good aging potential."
