Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"It has a dark scarlet hue, tending crimson towards the edges. The richly scented nose has impressions of red berries, interlaced with wood spice, cinnamon, violet and earthy hints of herbs. In the mouth there is a sense of brightness and vitality, with succulent fruit intensity supported by fine grained tannins and a core of zippy acidity, adding elegance and structure on the long, flavoursome close.
Made using traditional Bordeaux methods, the grapes were picked at the start of May and then left to ferment naturally. The wine was then gently pressed off and put into French oak barriques, where it was aged for 18 months. The following summer, when the weather warmed, it underwent a natural malo-lactic (secondary) fermentation."
Reviews for the 2021 vintage below…
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, December 2024 (2021 Vintage)
"Excellent colour and hues, a classic bouquet of intensity and youth, dark olives and blackberries, blackcurrant and brine, violets and baking spices. Complex and intriguing. There’s no mistaking too the use of smoky French oak to tease out the nuances of fruit and frame them ready for the palate. Dry, taut, poised and new. A wine of intensity and power, core fruit flavours of dark berries and olive, dried herb and violets deliver complexity and style. A fantastic wine of power and length with best drinking from 2027 through 2037+."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2024 (2021 Vintage)
"Youthful and beautifully fruited, the wine shows Black Doris plum, blueberry, thyme, tar, and toasted nut aromas. The palate delivers excellent weight and fleshy texture, combined with finely infused tannins, making it sturdy and robust with a persistent, harmonious finish. At its best: now to 2033."
