All the talk around Marlborough is how good the 2024 vintage was for Reds in the region, so when we saw this great value Syrah pop up recently in the Top 10 in Cuisine Syrah tasting, our interest was piqued.
Historically a marginal region for growing Syrah, the 2024 vintage was an exception in Marlborough providing excellent ripening conditions. It is certainly a variety to watch out for if this juicy number is anything to go by.
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Magenta with purple hues. Floral, spice and white pepper aromas. A structured wine great fruit purity and great length of flavour.
The grapes that went into this wine were sourced from our Seventeen Valley vineyard in the Wairau Valley in Marlborough. This is one of our warmest vineyard sites and along with super low yields, produces the ripeness levels required for Syrah. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented in small parcels and aged for eleven months in French oak barriques."
