Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"A celebration of two blocks of mature Pinot Noir from the Mt Maude Vineyard. As the name suggests, the blocks face opposite directions. Made in a different style – 100% whole cluster, clone 10-5, often only one pigaege during the ferment – definitely a unique winemaking twist on Pinot production. A bewitching perfume, paler in colour yet full, luscious and complex. Love it or hate it, this Pinot Noir certainly creates some debate."

"Varietal, fruity, taut and dry. Aromas and flavours of spiced red cherries and raspberry, there’s red licorice note and fine savoury core. Dry with firm, yet polished tannins, plenty of acidity drives through the fruit flavours and accentuates the tannins. Great phenolics, mouthfeel and finish with a cola quality, velvet touch and lengthy, dry finish. A wine to watch. Best from 2027 through 2035++."

"From the family vineyard at Mt Maude in Wanaka, picked from two blocks on the Eastern and Western sides, facing in opposite directions. Quite a pale ruby colour in the glass. A beguiling scent – pure Pinot – with strawberry, cherry cola, pomegranate, plum, orange rind, five spice and rose petal florals. More body than the colour suggests, with a lively blast of fruit and zesty, flowing acidity. Tannin is supple, adding some structure to the riotous pulse of fruit and spice. Zig zagging through phenolics and texture to a finale that has good length."
