The Domaine Marc Bredif winery is one of the great names of the Loire. The estate has enjoyed a long and colourful history, having been established in 1893 under the original name of Château les Roches. In 1919, not long after the end of the First World War, Marc Bredif took over from his Uncle and renamed the property to mark the change of ownership. His focus was simple, to forge an unrivalled reputation for excellence amongst the estates of the Loire valley.
He invested heavily in the estate during the 1930’s, building a tremendous circular storage room in the heart of its cellars, which today houses venerable vintages of sweet Vouvray, some of which date back to the 1900’s! The property managed to survive the Second War World War relatively unharmed and remained under family control until the 1980’s. As is so often the case, family intrigue and financial necessity meant that the Domaine had to be sold, and in 1980 Baron Patrick de Ladoucette acquired the estate. Thankfully, the Baron was every bit the conscientious owner and has given new life to Marc Bredif – investing heavily and expanding their holdings to include some of the most prized Vouvray vineyards – 20 hectares in total. Picking exclusively by hand, the Domaine produces some of the most profound and immortal expressions of Chenin Blanc, in a range of styles to suit all wine lovers.
Quite simply, Marc Bredif is a landmark in the Loire, not least because of the consistency of quality across an impressive range of wines.
Wine Spectator, Loire Valley Vintage Report (2016 Vintage)
"A step ahead of 2015 and different in style. A severe spring frost cut the crop by as much as 50 percent. May through July was rainy, but then draught conditions arrived and persisted through the harvest. Luckily temperatures were not too hot, especially through harvest. Wines have fresher acidity than 2015. Very solid vintage, with some exceptional sweet wines."

With its majestic cellars in the heart of the Touraine, Marc Brédif has been one of the most famous Vouvray and Chinon houses since 1893.
When Baron de Ladoucette acquired the estate in 1980, his conscientious leadership saw the hundred year old winery enjoy a new lease on life, while preserving its traditions. Substantial investment was made to expand their holdings to take in some of the most prized Vouvray vineyards. Today, Marc Brédif continues to produce Vouvray and Chinon wines of the finest quality, in a range of styles to suit all wine lovers (including some of the most profound and immortal expressions of Chenin Blanc).
The grapes for the Marc Brédif Chinon grow in the northern part of the Chinon area, in Savigny-en-Véron. The vineyards are principally gravelly and have mostly north / south sun exposure.
Grown on the lower slopes along the Loire Valley in Vouvray and Vernou-sur-Brenne, the grapes for the Marc Brédif Vouvray enjoy Northern/Southern exposure.
The troglodytical (cave-like) cellars of Marc Brédif are among the largest and most beautiful of the appellation. The cold and humid caves, dug deep into the hillsides, offer extraordinary wine storage conditions.
Quite simply, Marc Bredif is a landmark in the Loire, not least because of the consistency of quality across an impressive range of wines. They are particularly famous for their Grand Année releases, great vintages aged for decades in their cellars before release.

All the way in Christchurch, but occasionally order from this store as it has wines I like that I can't source elsewhere, at a great price too. Always great service, and will keep using them.

I had been searching for a very specific wine and I finally found it here. Not only did they have the wine I was searching for, they had a beautiful collection of other wines. If you are a wine lover, be sure to check out Vino Fino. The staff were very knowledgeable on the types of wine and the wine makers. I will be coming back again for sure.

Unfortunately I just think the service could have been friendlier. I knew what I wanted so should have been an easy customer so started telling my list to the not overly friendly person who asked me if I was ok. They didn’t have everything I wanted which I was fine with but then the two people at the till didn’t even say hello or offer any sort of acknowledgement which I think is quite rude. This was my first time in and I just felt like it should have been a little better. I’ve always thought these guys were the Ballantynes of the Christchurch Liqour scene but the inside just reminded me of a pop up warehouse. Sorry team, but I think you could look and be better.

Possibly the best wine shop in New Zealand. I've been coming here for 11+ years. Excellent, interesting wines at a range of price points; friendly, personal and knowledgeable service. If the wall of Sauv Blanc, Pinot Gris, Shiraz and Pinot Noir at the supermarket doesn't do it for you, you need to sign up for Vino Fino's email. They work hard to get sharp prices on very good wines.

Amazing customer service. Vino Fino arranged a gift wrapped, hand delivered, chilled bottle of champagne for the morning of my best friends wedding, as I was stuck in the UK with COVID. A beautiful gift. It was like nothing was too much trouble for them. I was even able to dictate a small message. Thank you for your excellent service!

They appear to be competitively priced. Service was excellent. The shop is split over three levels. Not sure how you'd cope if you are mobility impaired.
