When it comes to Riesling, few do it better than Pegasus Bay. Internationally acclaimed and masters of this expressive variety, their expertise shines through, even in their entry-level range.

Main Divide Riesling is a long-time favourite of ours, and it’s not hard to see why. This release is bursting with flavour, beautifully balanced, and effortlessly drinkable, it’s the kind of wine you’ll reach for again and again. We call it a comfort wine, reliable, charming, and always satisfying.

Like the rest of the Main Divide range, this bottle seriously overdelivers on quality, flavour, and value.

Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"On release it has a pale gold hue. Fragrant and perfumed, the nose offers a rich tapestry of orange blossom and jasmine, interwoven with hints of lime peel, spiced apple, white fleshed pleach and a lick of honey. The palate has a delicious engagement, with a spritzy mouthfeel, attractive sweetness and beautifully infused acidity. These elements unite, adding structure and length, on the long, citrus laden finish."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Richly ripe and fragrant, the bouquet presents notes of orange peel, grilled peach, lemon curd, and floral aromas, followed by a succulent palate that offers generous texture and appealing sweetness. It's splendidly structured by juicy acidity, making it refreshing and fabulously drinkable. Style: Medium. At its best: now to 2030."

92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, March 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Fragrant, intense and varietal bouquet with a crisp apple and citrus attack. Aromas of lemon and red apple, honeysuckle, lime-flower and a lick of botrytis present an attractive offering. A lovely wine on the palate with flavours that reflect the bouquet as well as a cider note. Plenty of acidity for freshness and style leading to lengthy finish. Best drinking from early 2026 through 2030."

Main Divide is operated by the Donaldson family who work with a number of vineyards in North Canterbury, bringing the fruit together for processing at their winery in Waipara.

Like many New Zealand winemakers, Main Divide pursues a philosophy of natural methods and minimal intervention. They believe in sustainable viticulture, organic techniques, low crop levels, and minimal fruit handling during processing (along with gentle pressing).

Main Divide allows their wine to go through fermentation by wild yeasts, natural secondary or malo-lactic fermentation, and to clarify by settling.

Wine-maker Matthew Donaldson many years of experience and passion to produce a range of wines that show fresh, clean and pure fruit flavours while at the same time clearly expressing the characteristics of each unique vineyard.
