Double Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2025
This juicy mouthful of red is one of the best under this label for years. Meaning 'the old farmhouse', this wine hails from the red Mediterranean soils and chalk debris of the slopes of Mount Ventoux near the town of Mazan in the south of the Rhône Valley. Often touted by international wine critics as one of the great wine values of the world, this blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan is warm and spicy with lashings of red fruits – raspberries and cherries – a touch of earth, and round, deliciously supple tannins. A friendly and fruity wine made to be enjoyed at anytime.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"The Perrin Family, also owners of the famous Château de Beaucastel, search for the most suitable terroirs to produce a fresh and fruity wine. Unpretentious, this is the archetypal pleasure wine. Authentic, genuine and tasty. The vineyards are located on the slopes of Mont Ventoux. The altitude offers freshness, which provides a good acidity level to the grapes. The wine is, therefore, fresh, fruity and well balanced.
Pretty purple colour with shiny reflections. The nose reveals a seductive bouquet of red fruit and spices. Full of delicacy, the palate is full of freshness and well balanced, with aromas of cherries and very soft tannins, giving this wine great drinkability."
4 Stars Cuisine NZ & International Other Reds 2025, June 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"A lovely bright ruby colour in the glass with vibrant youthful aromas. The palate is warm and ripe with crunchy fruit, fresh bright acid and a lean, yet persistent length that gives the wine a delicious moreishness. "
92/100 Cameron Douglas MS, July 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"Very dark purple core with a pink rim leads to a bouquet and palate of freshly squeezed blackberries and Doris plums laced with clove and peppery spices. Fleshy textures and fruity with fine tannins and plenty of acidity for freshness and style. Fruit flavours are persistent and delicious. A balanced, refreshing and well made wine with best drinking from 2025 through 2028+."
