Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"The Farm Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from Cabernet Sauvignon vines, planted in 1997, at our Lodge Hill property. The Lodge Hill Vineyard is located on the Eastern Ranges of the Clare Valley and sits at an altitude of 480m above sea level providing fruit of great elegance and complexity.
Classic Cabernet aromas of cassis, Doris plum skin, and nuances of lifted tobacco leaf. The palate is full, but not fat, with a depth of flavour showing this is a serious wine. The nose carries perfectly to the palate, with a tannin profile that drives long and frames nicely, leaving you with all the hallmarks of Classic Cabernet Sauvignon."
93+/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, March 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"Black fruit, cocoa, a smattering of dried herbs and mint. It’s medium to full-bodied, dense and thick with tannin, a bit ferrous, sweet dark fruit, balanced acidity, and a long mint chocolate finish. Good texture. Good stuff."
92/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, October 2025 (2022 Vintage)
"Vibrant is the word. This has good depth and general fleshiness but it’s the energy and vibrancy of the fruit that makes you stop and notice. It tastes of redcurrant, mint, violets, choc-cream and leather, though really it tastes harmonious and as one. Excellent balance to this wine. It feels cool and warm at once, in a cohesive way. It’s good plus."
92/100 Mike Bennie, James Halliday's Wine Companion, March 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"Old-vine cabernet from the notable Lodge Hill estate vineyard. Luncheon claret of the highest order! Slurpy, soft and fresh feeling with a cinch of tidy, lacy tannins to boot. Scents of blueberry, boot polish, mint and eucalyptus with whiffs of sage and clove. The palate all blueberry fruitiness with piquant herbal characters, blood orange acidity and a saline, earthy, minerally finish. Beautiful, seamless flow and silky texture. Winning wee drink here."
92/100 Huon Hooke, The Real Review (2022 Vintage)
"Glass staining purple colour, impressive. Bold, bright cassis aromas, not yet complex but promising much for the future. It has good fruit concentration and ideal ripeness. Potential plus….and value."
