The fruit for this comes from the famed Armagh vineyard. This is a big, strong Shiraz – almost 'old school'. Dark fruit is melding into the oak with flavours showing some more mellow spice cupboard, earthy savouriness. A special wine and superb value.

"The McRae Wood Shiraz was first developed in 1992 in response to growing demand for the renowned 'The Armagh' Shiraz, which could only ever be made in limited quantities. The McRae Wood draws on the best sections of low-yielding Shiraz from the family's mosaic of vineyards across the Clare Valley.
Dark fruited and broody nose, with plum and blackberry aromas, sweet earth, and hawthorn, all framed by integrated oak spice and nuances of fresh soft liquorice. With an effortless approach and line, sinewy tannins greet the palate and flow all the way through to the finish. Up front the wine has all the hallmarks of the McRae Wood profile, followed by a wave of elegance, florals and spice, and a classic brooding finish."

"It’s a flavoursome, fuller-figured red with clove and cinnamon wood a feature over red plum, raspberry coulis and figgy, dried fruit characters. Thick in the palate with ribs of firm, gravelly tannin, the wine finishes with decent length, albeit a bit woody/dusty over finesse and freshness. For those seeking a liberally seasoned, bolder red, this works."

Possibly the best wine shop in New Zealand. I've been coming here for 11+ years. Excellent, interesting wines at a range of price points; friendly, personal and knowledgeable service. If the wall of Sauv Blanc, Pinot Gris, Shiraz and Pinot Noir at the supermarket doesn't do it for you, you need to sign up for Vino Fino's email. They work hard to get sharp prices on very good wines.

An amazing selection of wine from pretty much all over the planet! Price are decent too and for sure if you are good at spotting the right wine can get some amazing wines to a more than fair price! Parking is a bit of an issue but worst come to worst can park at the south city carpark and walk 100m!
