Huia, one of the great names of Marlborough wine, is going through a bit of renaissance, with new owner Tom Pegler recently taking over the reins from original owners Claire and Mike Allan who established Huia back in 1994.
Tom is driving a renewed passion into Huia, and as part of the rejuvenation he has overhauled the branding. As a result, he has asked us to help clear out some stock with the old labels, hence this epic deal on this seriously good Chardonnay that was never meant to be sold at this price point!
The class in the glass in obvious from the very first sip. Clearly a premium Chardonnay, this has layers of savoury complexity that puts in mind of very good Chardonnay coming out of the Macon in Burgundy, France.
Loaded full of bright citrus and nutty notes, with just the right amount of creaminess and oak to carry the palate to a wonderfully long and complex finish. With years of aging potential ahead also, this is one to grab by the case.
No need to overthink things, just a genuinely fantastic opportunity to procure a delicious wine at a Jaw-Dropping price!

"A Chardonnay from the Huia Home Block vineyard in Marlborough. A bright, light gold colour in the glass. The scent differs from a typical New Zealand Chardonnay perfume, with a very European style to it – marmite, hay, green fig, juniper and soy all evident before you get to the more traditional citrus, stone fruit, creme brulée and hazelnut notes. Dry, with a tingle of crystalline acidity in the vibrant palate. A creamy texture adds a softness, as the oak makes itself known, and a touch of tannin too. Good concentration and length makes for a pretty serious expression – look for this to age well."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2026 (2022 Vintage)
"Super bright, varietal and fresh with a nicely complex bouquet of fresh white peach and honeysuckle, red apple and a seam of vanilla spice and stone. Pressed white flowers and nut with a fresh baked goods suggestion. Dry, taut, crisp and youthful with persistent flavours that mirror the bouquet, a decent acid line adds poise and carries the floral and core fruit flavours throughout the palate. Delicious, fresh and developing still. Best from day of purchase through 2030."
