Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Deep crimson with purple hues. Perfumed aromas of blueberry, blackberry and mulberry, interwoven with notes of white pepper, nutmeg, fresh bay leaf, wild thyme and hints of cedar. The palate is dark and brooding with layers of plush mixed berries, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon, balanced by bright acidity and fine, velvety tannins."

"This is the 20th edition of a Henschke Tappa Pass Shiraz. It’s become an important and noteworthy part of the Henschke range. It’s a wine that, over the years, has never lacked flavour, though it’s added finesse to its armoury, as this wine shows. Indeed this release ramps up the complexity too. It tastes of twigs, herbs, ripe plums and redcurrant, with mint, black olive and woodsy spice notes woven throughout. There’s a firmness to this wine, and plenty of fruit, though there’s also more than a passing nod to savouriness. As a result it feels complete."

"This is a fleshy, pulpy and rich example of Barossa shiraz, heartland stuff, done well, with good seasoning and a lush flow. Choc-cherry, choc-mint, some lavender lift, lots of clove and cinnamon, a dash of honey glazed almonds, some mocha and eucalyptus in there too. Ferrous savouriness chimes in, a little minerally perhaps as well. A little breathy, maybe? A quibble. It finds a medium to fuller profile but tightens up nicely and seems good for the long haul. Nicely played, as of course comes with experience."
